The Point Code feature allows you to import your data into the software and have the software create parts of the diagram as it comes in. It works in similar ways in both EdgeFX and in FX3.
To create a Point Code Library you select Point Code Libraries from the Measurements Tab. This will bring up the Manager.to create a new library, select "Add" To Edit an existing library select "Edit" and to remove or delete a library select "Remove".

If you select "Add" or "Edit" the next screen is the library editor. which allows you to create a new library, or edit an exiting one that you have selected.
The Code that you enter is a short descriptor of what you will be using on the data being imported into the software. The Description, which is optional, is the longer version of what the code represents. The generated feature is also optional. The generated feature is what allows you to associate the point code with a program object type.To change the object type select the browse button (...)
Choose the Feature Type you wish to associate with that code and select "Okay. This feature will display properties for the selected feature which you can change. When the software generates a scene object based on the point code, these properties will be automatically applied to the generated object.
IMPORTING DATA AND USING POINT CODE LIBRARIES:
After you have set up your point code library, you can import data into EdgeFX and FX3 and teh software will create those objects in the scene based on what is in the library. to have the software do that, there is an added choice in the import process.
If you have more than one library you can choose which one to use. This option will be disabled in the software until you have a library set up for it to use. When you import the scene, it will generate the features when you select Finish.
As well, at any time you can also generate these features in the Measurement log by right clicking and selecting "Generate Features".
