Andrew N. Cospito
Mr. Andrew N. Cospito is a former police officer in the state of Florida with over 14 years of street level law enforcement experience.
Mr. Cospito specialized in the field of D.U.I. and Traffic Homicide where he completed over 30 traffic homicide investigations. He also worked over 900 + serious traffic related crashes (vehicle, motorcycle, train, and pedestrian) that resulted in serious bodily injuries. Mr. Cospito was regularly called upon by other law enforcement agencies to assist with their fatal crashes due to his vast experience and training in the traffic homicide field.
Mr. Cospito is a certified and trained Graduate of the University of North Florida’s Accident Reconstruction Program conducted at the Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM). He is also certified in Human Factors in Traffic Crash Reconstruction and Advanced Traffic Crash Reconstruction with WinCrash. With his background of working in the traffic homicide field and the use of today’s computer technology he can apply real world data to recreate a full scale animation of the accident.
Certified in the area of Crash Data Retrieval Technology (Black Box) in passenger vehicles, enabling enhanced accident reconstruction. This technology allows the crash investigator to retrieve crash data from vehicles 5 seconds prior to impact involving near deployment or deployment of air bags.
Certified and trained by the Florida East Coast Rail Road Police Department for the investigation of Highway Grade Crossing Collisions involving trains and automobiles.
Certified and trained by The Public Safety Institute a division of IPTM at The University of North Florida for Water Craft Investigation and Incident Reconstruction.
Active participant in the yearly Special Problems in Traffic Crash Reconstruction conducted at IPTM.
Active member of several accident reconstruction professional originations. Most recently became an active member of the Society of Accident Reconstructionist (SOAR). Active member of National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialist, Inc. (NAPARS) and the Accident Reconstruction Communication Network (ARC).
Mr. Cospito has made over 1000+ D.U.I. arrests in the State of Florida and in a period from June of 1996 to June of 1997 made over 200 D.U.I. arrests as a senior member of a D.U.I. unit. He received the M.A.D.D. and Governors awards for D.U.I. arrests in 1997.

Certified D.U.I. Instructor for training in the proper use of Standardized Field Sobriety Testing used by law enforcement officers and is a certified instructor in the use of Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (H.G.N.).
Trained and certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (F.D.L.E.) as a breath test operator and a maintenance person on the intoxilyzer 5000
series instrument that is utilized for breath testing in the state of Florida. Certified and trained in the use of portable breath testers (PBTs).
Yearly participant in the Symposium on Alcohol and Drug Enforcement conducted through IPTM and The University of North Florida.
Yearly participant in the Blood Breath & Tears Seminar conducted by the F.A.C.D.L.
Instrumental in forming a police D.U.I. unit with a federal grant that was provided through the Florida Department of Transportation (DOT).
Highly trained in the area of police in car video and its utilization in today’s law enforcement environment. Mr. Cospito is also highly trained in this area as it pertains to video taping of D.U.I. arrestees at the scene or in a station house environment.
Certified Accident Investigation Software Specialist and Trainer for the Visual Statement Company based in Kamloops, B.C. Visual Statement is one of the leading companies in accident diagramming programs designed for law enforcement and accident reconstructionists. The software allows the investigator to apply real scene 3-D animation to their crash scene diagram.
Formed Cospito’s Accident Reconstruction (C.A.R.) in 2000 and is now a private consultant to the legal profession, insurance companies and private individuals. He assists and consults Attorneys in the area of D.U.I., D.U.I. Manslaughter, Accident Reconstruction and Watercraft Crash Reconstruction. He regularly testifies as an expert in reference to D.U.I. arrest cases, D.U.I Manslaughter, traffic homicide cases and traffic related issues. His experience as a Traffic Homicide Investigator has made him a valuable asset in the field of accident reconstruction because he can interpret accident reports and evidence to enhance his reconstruction abilities.
Mr. Cospito earned an Associates Degree in the field of Paralegal Studies from Keiser College in 1999 where he graduated with honors.
