Michael G. Barnes
Mr. Barnes retired from the Louisville Police Department after 33.5 years of service. During his last 23 years of service, he worked in the Traffic Bureau, where he was a Team Leader on the Technical Accident Investigation Unit and developed traffic plans for special events. He was also a member of their Motorcycle Drill Team.
Throughout his employment with LPD, Mr. Barnes was certified to instruct Accident Investigation and Accident Reconstruction through the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Department of Criminal Justice and Training, as well as the Louisville Police Department’s Training Bureau. He was also certified to inspect commercial vehicles, hazardous materials, and cargo tankers through the Motor Carrier Safety Administration Program.
Mr. Barnes has received specialized training in all areas of Accident Investigation and Reconstruction through schools such as IPTM, Northwestern University Traffic Institute, Texas A & M – Texas Engineering Extension Service, Colorado School of Mines, and the Collision Safety Institute.
In 1993, Mr. Barnes received his Accreditation as an Accident Reconstruction Specialist through ACTAR, registration number 201. He is also certified as a Technician and Analyst of the Crash Data Retrieval System.
Michael has been recognized numerous times as an expert regarding motor vehicle accident reconstruction in Federal, Criminal, and Civil courts. His 3D Animation using Vista fx2 has been accepted in the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Circuit Court.
Mr. Barnes is the owner of Accident Reconstruction Consultants, Inc., which he started in 1991. He is licensed as a Private Investigator (number KY-0244) through the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
